Seventy-five evacuation centres have been activated in Kadavu and people have been advised to move to the evacuation centres before nightfall.
Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu said because Tropical Cyclone Keni would be reaching Kadavu this evening, they didn’t want any Fijian to be risking their lives.
“We don’t want people to be moving around in the night looking for shelter,” Mr Moroivalu said.
He said National Fire Authority Officers, Police officers and Disaster Management teams have been on standby in Kadavu for the past 24 hours.
He said they had been monitoring the weather and have advised the village headmen not only for Kadavu but Moala, Ono-i-Lau and Matuku to be prepared.
Mr Moroivalu said the people are prepared just like they were for TC Gita.
All focus are currently on Kadavu as it has been the red-zone whereby the eye of TC Keni is likely to make landfall on the island.
