The Nadi Carriers Association has condemned an attack on one of its members who was stabbed on Friday.
Carrier driver Abdul Farouk, 38, of Koromakawa, Navo, was robbed after the carrier was hired from the Nadi carrier stand to Momi after midday.
Association president and vehicle owner Abdul Khan said, “This is not on and we won’t tolerate such action”.
“This is a very serious case and we pray and keep our fingers crossed for the recovery of brother Farouk. The association thanks the Fiji Police Force for a job well done for apprehending the suspect within two hours and also to the villagers in Momi for driving the vehicle to my home.”
According to Police, upon reaching Momi Village the victim was allegedly stabbed in the neck and robbed of more than $1000.
The victim was conveyed to the Lautoka Hospital, where he is admitted.
The suspect fled the scene.
Quick action by officers enabled the arrest of the suspect.
Police said an officer saw the suspect acting in a suspicious manner and arrested him in Nadi. The stolen money was also recovered.
