Two students from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) in Tailevu caught sniffing glue in the school premises have been advised to look for another school to continue their high school education this year.
The incident happened two weeks ago.
RKS Vice-Principal Pio Veivoli confirmed this and said the school has been strict on this type of behaviour and would not hesitate to take action.
“We have a stand. We have been advising students of this, that once caught they are sent home,” he said.
“The policy for the Ministry (of Education) is no hard drugs. The students have been advised to look for another school. We have counselled them and they have not changed.”
Mr Veivoli said the two students were initially caught smoking tobacco (suki) and were counselled and suspended. He said the students returned and did not behave.
“We have spoken to the parents to monitor them. Corporal punishment is not allowed and we can only seek parents’ partnership and assistance.
“We have done our part and they did not heed our advice. We cannot do much.”
