Rachel Fairfax wowed the crowd last night with her show-stopping style as models showcased her best work of art on the catwalk at the Grand Pacific Hotel.
But unbeknownst to the crowd was that her fashion line was inspired by her little ones – her three daughters: Rani, 15, Tiara, 13, and Indira, who is 10-years-old.
Ms Fairfax who has made quite a name for herself in the fashion industry has been in the business for the last 10 years.
Her collection at the inaugural Bottega Gold Fijian Fashion Festival was Spring and Summer Linen collection.
“My (eldest) daughter wore linen clothes and I asked her if she loved it and she said she absolutely loves it,” said the wife of Michael Fairfax, manager group construction for Pacific Building Solutions.
“That was when I said I should do the fashion line with linen.
“They have inspired me for my fashion line which I have showcased today and part of it was also my kids’ creations,” Mrs Fairfax said.
Her daughters had graffitied on the sneakers the models wore and they picked out the accessories to wear with the clothing line.
She said another reason she decided to showcase linen was because she lived in the Sunshine Coast in Queensland which had warm and spring weather throughout the year.
“Materials like linen, bamboo and natural fabrics are the ones the fashion world is moving towards.
“And it is a fabric you can wear all year long during spring, autumn, summer and winter because it will keep you warm as well.”
Other collections shown last night were from Zuber, Gabriel Gade, Honson Keong Margin, LavaLani, Renuka Kumar Retima House, Fancy Pants, Donnalesi, Rowie Lal RTW, and Pacific Islands Art.
