A file in regards to investigations on Ratu Epenisa Cakobau will be submitted to the Office of the Department of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday.
He also said that Ratu Epenisa has not been charged.
When asked by Fiji Sun if Ratu Epenisa has been charged he said – “No, file has to be seen by the DPP”.
He also confirmed that Ratu Epenisa had been released yesterday after being questioned by Police.
Ratu Epenisa and others were taken in for questioning on Friday morning and detained while the Criminal Investigation Department conducted its inquiry.
Ratu Epenisa was detained after Police had requested the support of military personnel to intervene in a planned traditional chiefly installation for the vacant Vunivalu title.
Ratu Epenisa is one of the two claimants to the Vunivalu title.
Turaga na Vunivalu ni Bau is the Paramount chief of the Kubuna Confederacy.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro could not reveal the names of two others who were also detained and released yesterday.
It is understood Ratu Epenisa went to Bau Island after his release.
