A Nasinu man was released on bail by the Nasinu Magistrates Court on Thursday after he appeared in court charged with one count of criminal intimidation.
The accused, Vimal Chandra, is alleged to have threatened to kill the complainant, Greg Pooran, with a cane knife on January 24, 2018 without lawful excuse to cause alarm to the complainant.
Magistrate Charles Ratakele questioned Chandra if there was any domestic relationship between the complainant and himself.
The accused confirmed that he was not related to the complainant and that they were only neighbours.
Police Prosecutor Constable Krishan Keshwan did not object to the accused’s bail, but requested if strict bail conditions could be imposed.
Magistrate Ratakele ordered the accused to produce two suitable sureties and released him on $600 bail bond.
The accused was also advised not to offend while on bail.
The case was adjourned to April 9, 2018 for his plea to be heard.
