Fiji Airways Flying Fijians star lock forward, Leone Nakarawa, continues to flourish in his career as a rugby player and military man.
Recently voted as Europe’s best rugby player for 2018, Mr Nakarawa was promoted to Lieutenant yesterday.
He was commissioned by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, into the Territorial Force as a platoon commander of B Coy 7FIR at the Officers Training Centre in Vatuwaqa.
The RFMF Commander congratulated Lieutenant Nakarawa for his dedication to duty and loyalty to his country as a military man and rugby player.
“Your achievement and current role as a national rugby representative, including your status as an Olympic Gold medallist, is exemplary to junior soldiers and young people in general,” the commander told Lieutenant Nakarawa.
“You deserve this recognition.”
Lieutenant Nakarawa thanked God for his leadership at this juncture in his life.
He was also thankful for this opportunity and realised that it came with great responsibility.
He also acknowledged his family for being a great driving force in his success and their unwavering support.
The newly-promoted officer is expected to be named in the first line-up of the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians when they take on Georgia on Saturday at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
