BUDGET 2018: 98 days Maternity Leave, 5 days Paternity Leave and 5 days Family Care Leave

Mothers will now spend more time with their newborn babies at home before they could resume duties.

The Maternity Leave entitlement has increased from 84 days to 98 days.

This was announced at the 2018-2019 National Budget announcement last night.

In addition to this, the Government had also introduced a five-day Paternity Leave and five-day Family Care Leave.

There will be a 150 per cent tax deduction for employers on salaries and wages paid to employees during Paternity and Family Care Leave.

The 2018-2019 National Budget was announced by the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
