Edward Cameron, the 27-year-old son of the late Sydney business identity John Hemmes stemming from a secret six-year affair, has been awarded $1.75 million from the estate of the father he never met.

Justice Geoffrey Lindsay on Friday awarded Mr Cameron the sum after a one-day hearing in the Supreme Court on Thursday that aired private details of the prominent Sydney family.

The Hemmes family runs Merivale, which owns high-profile entertainment venues such as The Establishment, Ivy and Coogee Pavilion.

Mr Cameron never met his father, who died aged 83 on March 1, 2015, after long suffering bone marrow cancer.
